About
Welcome to My Corner of the Internet
Hi there! I'm Becca Sunderland, and I'm so glad you've found your way here. This little space on the web is where I share my heart about faith, marriage, homemaking, and the beautiful challenge of living intentionally in a world that often pulls us in every direction.
My Story
Five years ago, I was climbing the corporate ladder in marketing, working sixty-hour weeks, and measuring success by salary increases and professional achievements. I had everything I thought I wanted, but something fundamental was missing. During a particularly stressful season, my husband Jake and I started praying about our priorities and what God was calling us toward.
The answer became clear: I wanted to create a home, not just live in a house. I wanted to nurture relationships, not just network. I wanted to invest in people, not just profit margins.
When Jake received a promotion that could support our household, we made the prayerful decision for me to step back from my career and focus on our home and future family. That choice transformed our lives in ways I never expected and set me on a journey of discovering what it means to be a Christian woman in today's world.
What You'll Find Here
This blog is my attempt to share what I'm learning along the way. You'll find posts about:
Faith & Scripture - How biblical principles shape daily decisions, from the words we speak to the choices we make
Marriage & Relationships - Building a strong partnership with Jake and nurturing meaningful friendships
Homemaking & Traditional Living - Finding joy in cooking, creating a peaceful home, and embracing what some call the "trad wife" lifestyle
Intentional Living - Making choices based on values rather than cultural expectations, including our decision to leave social media behind
Personal Convictions - Honest discussions about topics like modesty, alcohol, language, and other areas where I've developed strong biblical convictions
I write from my personal experience and convictions, but I hope you know that I'm not here to judge anyone who makes different choices. We're all on our own journeys of faith, and what God calls me to might look different from what He calls you to. My goal is simply to share what I'm learning and perhaps encourage you in your own walk with the Lord.
My Heart for This Space
I believe there's beauty in the ordinary moments of life—in bread rising in the oven, in quiet conversations over morning coffee, in the rhythm of keeping a home. In a world that often tells us we need to do more, be more, and achieve more, I'm discovering the profound contentment that comes from doing simple things with great love.
This blog isn't about perfection. I burn dinner sometimes, have difficult days in my marriage, and definitely don't have everything figured out. But I do believe that God can use our imperfect attempts at faithful living to encourage others and bring Him glory.
Whether you're a fellow homemaker, a working woman, a single person, or someone just trying to figure out what it means to follow Jesus in daily life, I hope you'll find something here that speaks to your heart.
A Few Personal Details
Faith: I'm a Christian who believes in the authority of Scripture and the transforming power of the Gospel. My relationship with Jesus is the foundation of everything else I write about.
Marriage: Jake and I have been married for several wonderful (though not always easy) years. He's my best friend, biggest supporter, and the person who challenges me to grow in grace.
Home: We live in a cozy house where hospitality is a priority. Our door is always open to friends, family, and anyone in need of a home-cooked meal and genuine conversation.
Interests: When I'm not writing, you'll find me experimenting in the kitchen, tending our vegetable garden, reading good books, or hosting gatherings in our home. I'm also studying herbalism and exploring traditional skills like food preservation.
Community: I'm actively involved in our local church and community. Having flexible time has allowed me to volunteer, mentor younger women, and serve our neighbors in ways that bring me deep joy.
What I'm Not
Let me be clear about a few things this blog isn't:
- A place of judgment - I share my convictions and choices, but I'm not here to condemn others who live differently
- A perfect lifestyle showcase - Real life is messy, and I try to write honestly about both the joys and challenges
- A one-size-fits-all guide - What works for Jake and me might not work for your family, and that's perfectly okay
- A platform for political debate - While my faith influences my worldview, this blog focuses on personal faith and family life rather than political issues
My Hope for You
My deepest hope is that something you read here will encourage you in your own journey of faith. Maybe it's permission to embrace a calling that feels countercultural. Maybe it's practical tips for creating a peaceful home. Maybe it's simply knowing that you're not alone in trying to live faithfully in a complicated world.
I believe God has uniquely gifted and called each of us, and I want to cheer you on as you discover and embrace His plan for your life—whether that looks like mine or completely different.
